Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police  (INP) Traffic Corps has planned with traffic management strategies to handle an estimated 70 million vehicles expected to hit the roads during the Eid homecoming and return journey in 2024. The goal is to prevent traffic congestion and delays, as reported by antaranews.com. Brigadier General  Raden Slamet Santoso, the Director of Law Enforcement  at the INP Traffic Corps, emphasized on Wednesday (27/3/2024) the need to focus on the approximately 60 to 70 million road users during this period. It includes around 37 million buses, 35 million private cars, and 31 million motorcycles. According to surveys by the Ministry of Transportation, an estimated 193.6 million people are anticipated to travel during Eid this year, marking a significant increase from the previous year's 123 million. The top regions of origin for travelers include East Java, Greater Jakarta, Central Java, West Java, and North Sumatra, while East Java remains the primary destination for travelers. "The most preferred mode of transportation is trains, followed by buses, private cars, and motorcycles," Chief Slamet noted. To address potential congestion, the police are deploying 76,192 personnel across 5,784 service posts, security posts, and integrated posts. This deployment is part of Operation Ketupat 2024, spanning 13 days from 4 to 16 April 2024. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
