Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya.  The Surabaya City Sub-regional Police have arrested a Turkish national in connection with a theft at the Waterplace Apartment in Surabaya.

Surabaya Police Head of Public Relations Assistant Inspector Haryoko Widhi explained on Tuesday (10/9/2024) that CCTV footage revealed the Turkish man, identified as MAK (53), stealing valuable items, including jewelry and cash, from a suitcase in the apartment on 29 August 2024,. 

He was staying at the apartment with permission from F, a resident of Kediri, East Java, whose daughter, YA, lives there, according to antaranews.com.

The Turkish man arrived in Indonesia on 28 August  2024, and stayed at the apartment after receiving a key from the receptionist. However, F and YA were not present, leaving him alone in the unit. 

When F was unable to contact him and found the apartment locked upon contacting her daughter, she asked her to check the apartment.

Her daughter discovered the theft after reviewing the CCTV footage, which showed suspect MAK leaving with two suitcases. He was later located and arrested at Losmen Bangkit motel in Sidoarjo. 

He has been taken into custody at the Surabaya Police for further investigation.
