Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel in Maumere, Sikka Regency, evacuated the bodies of two Austrians who died after falling from the Cunca Wulang suspension bridge in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday (24/5/2026).

The victims, identified as Jurgen (55) and Astrid (57), were retrieved from the riverbed by a joint SAR team and transported to Komodo Regional Hospital for identification. 

“With the evacuation completed, the SAR operation is declared closed,” said SAR Maumere Chief Fathur Rahman, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The incident occurred around 11.30 am and the rescue teams completed the evacuation by 2.35 pm.
