inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police are implementing the "Indonesia Asri" National Movement through mass corvee activities and simultaneous reforestation around the police barracks (Aspol).
This initiative is held to support the President of the Republic of Indonesia's strategic national program to create a safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful environment.
A total of 550 fruit tree seedlings were planted in 21 police barracks in support of the South Sumatra Regional Police's Belida program, which focuses on strengthening environmental quality and community social resilience.
The planted seedlings included Siger avocado, Binjai rambutan, Harum Manis mango, Jamaican guava, Kiojay mango, Otong durian, Kandil jackfruit, and Raja Giri avocado.
The reforestation program not only aims to beautify the dormitory environment but also to foster a culture of clean, healthy, and productive living within the police environment.
Furthermore, planting productive trees is expected to provide long-term benefits for dormitory residents and support environmentally-based food security.
"This movement is not just a cleanup and tree-planting activity, but part of an effort to build collective awareness to make our dormitory environment healthier, more comfortable, and more productive. This is also a form of concrete support for the national program launched by the President of the Republic of Indonesia," he said on Saturday (5/23/2016).
The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, added that the greening movement and mass corvee reflect the transformation of the Polri work culture, which is becoming more humane and adaptive to environmental issues.
"We continue to go with our Precision Police motto through activities that have a direct impact on the environment and the community. Greening our barrack area is not only a symbol of environmental concern, but also part of building a sustainable quality of life for police personnel and the extended police family," said Nandang.
