Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Two Indonesian citizens were arrested in Los Angeles, California, the United State of America, during a recent immigration enforcement operation that sparked large protests across the city, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday (10/6/2025).

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities have been conducting raids since Friday in multiple areas of Los Angeles, including the Garment District, Westlake, and South LA.

An Indonesian woman, identified as ESS (53), who was residing illegally, and an Indonesian man, identified as CT (48),  who has a narcotics violation record and entered the U.S. unlawfully, were among those detained, said Judha Nugraha, the Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens, as reported by antaranews.com.

The Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles is currently coordinating with U.S. authorities to secure consular access for both detainees.

The Foreign Ministry advises all Indonesians in the U.S. to use valid visas, comply with local laws, and be prepared for stricter immigration checks. Indonesian citizens are also encouraged to understand their legal rights, including the right to legal counsel and to contact the nearest Indonesian mission.
