Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the revocation of four mining business permits in Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua, citing environmental concerns and regulatory violations.
The announcement was made by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi during a press conference at the Presidential Office on Tuesday (10/6/2025), following a closed-door meeting led by the President in his private residence ein Hambalang, Bogor, a day earlier.
“The President has decided to revoke the mining permits of four companies operating in Raja Ampat,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The revoked permitss belong to PT Anugerah Surya Pratama, PT Nurham, PT Mulia Raymond Perkasa, PT Kawei Sejahtera Mining. It is based on the Presidential Regulation issued in January 2025 on the reorganization of forest areas, covering natural resource-based enterprises, including mining.
Meanwhile, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia clarified that the permit of PT Gag Nikel, a subsidiary of state-owned mining company PT Antam Tbk, is not revoked. However, its operations have been temporarily suspended pending a verification process, amid rising public opposition.
Environmental group Greenpeace said that mining on five small islands in Raja Ampat has damaged over 500 hectares of forest and threatened 75% of the world’s most pristine coral reefs, in violation of the Small Islands and Coastal Law.
