inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Two people were injured after the main access road to the Madakaripura Waterfall tourist attraction experienced a landslide and collapsed due to heavy rain that poured down on Negororejo Village, Lumbang District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java.
"Heavy rain accompanied by lightning that poured down on the local area caused a bridge to collapse and the main access road to the waterfall to landslide in Negororejo Village, Lumbang District," said Head of the Probolinggo Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Oemar Sjarif in the local district, Saturday (3/28/2026).
According to him, the access road, which has a culvert underneath, was unable to withstand the heavy water discharge, so the access road collapsed and could not be passed, completely paralyzing access to the Madakaripura Waterfall tourist attraction.
"This incident resulted in the activities of residents in Negororejo Village, Lumbang District, completely paralyzed," he said.
Meanwhile, two people who suffered injuries to their heads, hands and feet have received medical treatment.
The victims are local residents and have been taken to the Lumbang Community Health Center for further treatment. One injured victim has been allowed to go home, but another victim still requires further treatment and was referred to the hospital.
"Efforts have been made in coordination with relevant agencies and the village government, as well as installing police lines at the scene to prevent residents from passing through," he said.
He said the situation is safe and under control, but road access is impassable for both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, but police lines have been installed by the Lumbang Forkopimca.
"Officers are still conducting an assessment in the field and initial handling of the aftermath of the incident. We are also ensuring the safety of residents around the location," he said.
