Inp.polri.go.id - JakaJayapurarta. Two police officers injured in a shooting by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Nabire, Central Papua, are receiving treatment at Nabire Regional General Hospital (RSUD Nabire), officials confirmed Saturday (18/10/2025).
The attack, allegedly carried out by the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) faction led by Aibon Kogoya, occurred on Friday afternoon following a police inspection of a previous ambush site.
“First Inspector Hardiman Sirait, Head of Nabire Traffic Police, and Brigadier Laode Munafrin Isra have undergone surgery and are now in stable condition,” said Central Papua Regional Police Inspector for General Supervision, Senior Superintendent Gatot Suprasetya, in a statement to antaranews.com.
Two other officers, Thomas H. Bisararisi and Galuh Yudistiawan, sustained minor injuries and have since been discharged. Authorities have reinforced security patrols in Nabire amid ongoing operations to pursue the attackers. The recent shooting also claimed the life of a civilian passenger.
