Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The University of Indonesia (UI) confirmed on Thursday (16/4/2026) that the temporary academic suspension of 16 Faculty of Law students allegedly involved in verbal harassment is an administrative step, not a final disciplinary verdict.
The university’s task force recommended freezing the students' academic status from 15 April 2026 until 30 May 2026, to ensure an unimpeded investigation into the misconduct claims.
"The university continues to uphold the principles of justice and individual rights protection while ensuring the safety of all parties," said UI Rector Heri Hermansyah, adding that the institution remains committed to a victim-centered approach while upholding the presumption of innocence and procedural fairness throughout the ongoing inquiry, according to antaranews.com.
University management has mobilized psychological counseling and legal assistance for the victims to maintain academic continuity during the proceedings. Rector Heri urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or speculating on the case to protect the integrity of the investigation. Regular updates will be provided through official university channels as the investigation team completes its comprehensive review.
