Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) officially named the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Hery Susanto, a suspect on Thursday (16/4/2026)  regarding a corruption case involving nickel mining management between 2013 and 2025. 

"The suspect designation follows the discovery of sufficient evidence through rigorous investigative actions and searches," said Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, the Director of Investigation at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, as reported by antaranews.com.

Investigators alleged that Hery accepted bribes from a private mining firm, PT TSHI, to manipulate non-tax state revenue (PNBP) calculations during his previous tenure as an Ombudsman Commissioner. Following a series of searches and evidence gathering, authorities immediately detained the high-ranking official at the Salemba Detention Center for the next 20 days.

Hery was seen escorted into a detention vehicle at 11.19 am in Jakarta, remaining silent as officers led him away. The prosecution is currently expanding the investigation to determine the total state losses and identify other potential conspirators within the mining regulatory framework.
