inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Investigators from the Riau Islands Regional Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate used undercover techniques to arrest two marijuana dealers in Tanjung Pinggir, Batam City.
The Director of the Riau Islands Police Drugs Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Anggoro Wicaksono, said that this law enforcement effort was carried out after his team received information from the public regarding the dried marijuana dealers in Tanjung Pinggir Village.
"Our team then conducted an investigation and an undercover by Aipda Sukrinto was sent to approach one of the perpetrators with the initials HH in front of Sekupang International Port," said Anggoro on Tuesday (10/7/2025).
Anggoro explained that the undercover team approached the perpetrator to inquire about the whereabouts of the promised drugs.
The two chatted for a while, before HH left to get the drugs. A few minutes later, the perpetrator returned carrying a bag.
"The perpetrator was carrying a large red plastic bag containing 3 large packages of marijuana," said Anggoro.
Then, the undercover investigator checked the package to ensure that the contents were marijuana. Then, he gave a code to other officers who were already on standby at the location to arrest the perpetrator.
Following the arrest, the team searched HH and found one brown plastic bag containing 1,080 grams (1 kg) of dried marijuana leaves, and one brown plastic bag containing 600 grams of dried marijuana, and one brown plastic bag containing 250 grams of marijuana, so the total weight was 1.85 kg.
Investigators then interrogated the perpetrator HH which revealed that he got the marijuana from someone with the initials I who was at the location of the arrest.
"Then the operational officers arrested I at his residence not far from the location of HH's arrest," said the Director of Narcotics.
According to suspect I, he obtained the marijuana from a friend with the initials AN in Medan, North Sumatra.
Investigators are now expanding the network of HH and I. They are also conducting forensic analysis of the suspects' mobile devices as part of the investigation.
"We have filed a police report and completed the administrative procedures for the investigation," concluded Anggoro
