inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Veronica Tan, is pushing for the implementation of gender mainstreaming (PUG) in the Indonesian National Police (INP). This is a strategic step in strengthening the protection of women and children.

"The implementation of PUG can be carried out starting from the existing Directorate of Protection of Women and Children and Criminal Trafficking in Persons (PPA PPO). So that the implementation of INP's duties is not only oriented towards law enforcement alone, but also integrated with efforts to assist, protect, and recover victims in accordance with the law," she said on Thursday (9/25/2025).

In a workshop themed "Optimizing the Utilization of INP Medical Laboratory Examinations in Supporting the Disclosure of Criminal Acts," she revealed that the implementation of PUG is very important so that police policies, programs, and services can be more responsive and pro-vulnerable. 

"In this way, police can provide services that are more equal, inclusive, and gender-just," she said.

Meanwhile, the Head of INP Medical and Health Center, Inspector General Asep Hendradiana, hopes the workshop can raise the awareness and understanding of police personnel on the issue.

"This workshop aims to improve the technical skills of police personnel in handling, managing, and transporting evidence samples or biological materials," he explained.
