Inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur..The West Java Regional Police have = declared the province's southern coastal route, known locally as Jalur Selatan, viable as a primary alternative for the 2026 Eid Al Fitri homecoming exodus. 

Following a direct field inspection on Thursday (5/2/2026), West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan confirmed the route, which is stretching from Sukabumi through Cianjur to the Central Java border, can effectively bypass congestion on the overloaded northern and central corridors.

"We are immediately evaluating the southern route so it can be declared feasible for vehicles to use as an alternative path during the 2026 homecoming season," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

While structurally sound, authorities identified critical safety gaps, including insufficient public street lighting and a lack of warning signs at designated accident "blackspots," particularly in Sukabumi. 

The police are now coordinating with provincial and local administrations to accelerate infrastructure upgrades before the peak travel period.
