Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan launched a strategic financing initiative in Sumedang on Saturday (7/3/2026) to extricate local corn farmers from predatory moneylenders.
Through a collaboration with state-owned banks association (Himbara), mentored farmer groups can now access People’s Business Credit (KUR) of up to Rp 100 million without collateral. This "closed ecosystem" model ensures funds are disbursed directly to seed and fertilizer distributors rather than in cash to prevent misappropriation.
“This scheme guarantees that credit is strictly used for agricultural productivity, allowing farmers to bypass middleman traps,” West Java Police Chief Inspector General Setiawan said during the mass planting event as reported by antaranews.com.
The program currently supports over 440 farmer groups in Sumedang and has secured 1,200 hectares of land through partnerships with state-owned PTPN and Perhutani. With this financial backing, farmers are projected to earn up to Rp30 million per harvest cycle. The National Logistics Agency (Bulog) also confirmed it aims to absorb 322 tons of corn monthly from West Java in 2026 to bolster national food security.
