Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police confirmed Sunday (25/1/2026) that the death toll from the Cisarua landslide has risen, with 16 body bags recovered as of midday.
The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) teams at the Pasirlangu health center are working to process the remains using integrated digital biometric data and manual forensic examinations.
"As of 12 pm today, the number of body bags received has increased to 16, with nine victims already identified and matched through ante-mortem records," said West Java Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan, as quoted by antaranews.com.
At least 80 residents remain missing, while approximately 400 people have been displaced after the disaster decimated 34 households.
Joint search and rescue teams continue to comb through heavy debris despite the challenging terrain. Identified victims are being systematically returned to their families following rigorous verification of dental records and fingerprints.
The DVI command post remains the central hub for families seeking information, as police intensify efforts to account for those still buried under the massive mudflow.
