Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. West Java, East Java, and Jakarta recorded the highest number of reported cases of violence against women in 2024, according to Indonesia’s National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan).
The findings were presented in the “2024 Synergy Data Dissemination Report on Violence Against Women,” launched in Jakarta on Tuesday (19/8/2025).
“This may reflect improved reporting access, but at the same time highlights the vulnerability of women in densely populated urban areas,” said Komnas Perempuan Chairperson Maria Ulfah Ansor, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The report, compiled with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection and the Forum of Service Providers, revealed persistent domestic violence with over 7,500 perpetrators and more than 12,000 sexual violence offenders. Women in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped regions face additional barriers such as limited infrastructure and lack of assistance, leading to widespread underreporting.
Komnas Perempuan also stressed the need for strong enforcement of the Sexual Violence Eradication Law and inclusive protection for women facing multiple vulnerabilities.
