Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari.  The West Papua Regional Police declared that the security situation remains conducive following the voting day of the 2024 Election in 13 districts in West Papua and Southwest Papua. The Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ongky Isgunawan, said that the post-voting situation in the region has been calm and under control as seen by normal  activities and regular governmental operations. Massive educational campaigns conducted before the 2024 Election have positively influenced the understanding of the entire community, reducing the likelihood of provocation, he suggested. "We appreciate the support of all citizens in maintaining public order," Chief Ongky said. Currently, 1,054 personnel under the operational control of the West Papua Regional Police are still carrying out security duties during the vote counting process in 13 districts across West Papua and Southwest Papua. The police have received assistance from the Kasuari Military Command to ensure public order and the smooth running of the democratic process. According to data from the General Election Commission (KPU), there are a total of 385,465 registered voters in West Papua, comprising 196,570 males and 188,895 females, spread across 1,923 polling stations in 86 districts across seven districts. Additionally, there are 440,826 registered voters in Southwest Papua, with 227,823 males and 213,003 females, distributed across six districts with 2,156 polling stations. (ar/ndt/pr/nm)
