Inp.polri.go.id - Lubuk Basung. The West Sumatra Regional Police have built an emergency bridge to reconnect isolated areas in Salareh Aia, Agam District, after a flash flood cut off access on Thursday.
The structure, made from pinang logs, was assembled by the West Sumatra Police Operational Bureau and Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel to support evacuation and relief efforts. “
This temporary bridge is critical for residents and volunteers to deliver aid and search for missing victims,” said Operational Bureau Chief Senior Superintendent Muhammad Erwin on Saturday (29/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The bridge spans the fast-flowing Batang Nanggang River, with safety ropes held by four Brimob officers to help residents cross. Police plan to reinforce the structure with additional logs to improve stability and ease of movement.
The restored access enables the distribution of essential supplies to affected households after the main bridge collapsed. Police have also established a command post, delivered relief packages, and supported victim identification. Authorities expect the effort to ease mobility and accelerate recovery in Salareh Aia.
