Inp.polri.go.id – West Sumatra. The West Sumatra Regional Police arrested two operators allegedly mining gold illegally in Solok regency.

“The two suspects arrested are YF and RS, secured on Monday (4/29/2024) morning at 02.00 am in Sabalin, Solok Regency,” said the Head of West Sumatra Regional Police PR Chief, Senior Superintendent Dwi Sulistyawan on Sunday (5/5/2024).

The evidence seized by the police include two orange Hitachi excavators, six synthetic carpets, and two trays.

The Special Criminal Investigation Director, Senior Superintendent Alfian Nurnas states that during the arrest, the two suspects were operating the heavy machinery at the location. They were digging the sites to look for the stone sands.

“The acquired stone sands are then put into a wooden box containing synthetic carpets for gold filtering,” said Alfian.

They have conducted the operation since before this year’s Ramadan and could produce at least 10 to 30 grams of gold everyday.

“The one who instructed them is the capital owner with the initials of K. They rented the heavy machineries from someone with the initials of R and D,” continued the police.

Now the police are pursuing the K as the capital owner, while the arrested suspect will be processed further.
