inp.polri.go.id - Garut. The Ministry of Home Affairs held the 2026 Nationalism Goes to School Seminar to continue encouraging students to cultivate a spirit of self-improvement and instill nationalism.

"This activity was originally planned to develop a young generation with a spirit of nationalism," said Sri Handoko Taruna, Director of Ideology, Character, and National Insight Development, Directorate General of Politics and General Government of the Ministry of Home Affairs, as reported by Antaranews on Wednesday (1/28/2026).

During the 2026 Nationalism Goes to School Seminar in Garut Regency, West Java, he explained that this strategic activity was the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Garut Regency Agency for National Unity and Politics, with the inspiring theme "Achieving Without Losing Empathy."

On this occasion, he stated that today's young generation is a global generation that knows no boundaries or barriers. Therefore, they must be taught the spirit of nationalism to maintain the unity of Indonesia, a country with many islands, ethnicities, and languages.

"Those are our potential. We also have around 719 languages; which makes our potential truly immense. But if we don't preserve it, we will only hear it as history," he explained.

He said that all participants, who are students in Garut, after attending the seminar, can become agents of change, providing positive values and nationalism in their surrounding environment.

The Regional Secretary of the Garut Regency Government, Nurdin Yana, stated that his party was proud that Garut was chosen as the location for ideological development for the younger generation in Garut.

He emphasized the importance of continuing to instill in the young generation activities on nationalism amidst the massive advancements in information technology.
