Women Abused and Robbed after Meeting a Man from TikTok

inp.polri.go.id - Riau Island. The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Sub-regional City Police held a press conference regarding the disclosure of a case of rape accompanied by theft with violence.

The conference was led by the Barelang Sub-regional City Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Assistant Superintendent M. Debby Tri Andrestian.

Deby explained that this case involved a woman with the initials C.A. (21), a private employee residing in the Teluk Tering area of Batam City. The victim reported being the victim of rape and theft with violence perpetrated by a man with the initials S.R. (19).

Based on the investigation, it was discovered that the victim and the perpetrator first met through the TikTok app on August 5, 2025. After establishing intensive communication, on Sunday, August 10, 2025, the perpetrator asked the victim to move in with him.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m. at the victim's boarding house in the Puri Mas II area of Batam City, the victim and the perpetrator engaged in a verbal argument. The perpetrator, enraged, then pulled the victim's arm, causing her to fall onto the bed, sat on her body, and physically assaulted her by strangling her neck until she lost consciousness. When the victim regained consciousness, she found bloodstains on the bedsheet and felt pain throughout her body.

Furthermore, the perpetrator also stole the victim's belongings, including a white iPhone 12 Pro and IDR 300,000 in cash. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered material losses of approximately IDR 5,800,000 and psychological trauma. The victim subsequently reported the incident to the Batam Sub-regional City Police.

After receiving information about the perpetrator's whereabouts in the Lubuk Baja area, Pasar Jodoh, the team successfully secured SR along with evidence of an iPhone 12 Pro belonging to the victim and several items of clothing worn during the incident. 

Deby emphasized that the perpetrator was charged under Article 285 in conjunction with Article 365 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison. 

"This case is of serious concern to us because it involves crimes against women and acts of violence. We will not allow perpetrators of similar crimes to commit within the jurisdiction of the Barelang Police," Deby asserted.

Deby concluded his statement by reiterating the police's commitment to always maintaining the safety and security of the community.

 "We are committed to protecting and serving the community. Please report any criminal acts or suspicious activities immediately so we can follow up quickly and appropriately," he concluded.
