The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in collaboration with Indonesian industry players held the Wonderful Indonesia Festival 2023   at the West Beach Pavilion, St. Kilda Beach, Melbourne, Australia on October 22, 2023,. The event aimed to introduce the richness of Indonesian culture and position Indonesia as the top-of-mind vacation destination for the Australian market. "Melbourne, with a population exceeding 5 million and home to 140 nationalities, stands as the largest city in the region. Moreover, it boasts over 270,000 university students, making it the largest student city in Australia. This underscores Melbourne's suitability for hosting the Wonderful Indonesia brand activation," said Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry, on Sunday (22/10/23). Australia is the primary contributor of tourists to Indonesia, accounting for nearly one million visitors, constituting 12.2 percent of the total foreign tourist influx to Indonesia by 2023. The Wonderful Indonesia Festival 2023 Melbourne provided visitors with an immersive sensory experience, feature cultural performances and showcase preferred destinations for Australian tourists, specifically Lombok and Sumba. Visitors had the chance to win a holiday trip to Bali by purchasing creative economy products. During the festival,  the host disseminated information to  visitors and media with several contemporary policies such as regulations on  levies on foreign tourists in Bali. It was aimed to ensure that potential tourists, including members of the Australian tourism industry, gain a comprehensive understanding  that the levies aimed at safeguarding Bali's cultural heritage and natural environment.
