Inp.polri.go.id - Kudus. The Demak-Kudus North Coast route in Central Java faced a major disruption as the left embankment of the Wulan River breached, flooding the busy thoroughfare on Sunday (17/3/2024). Central Java Regional Police Chief, Police Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, along with Commander of Diponegoro Regional Military Command IV Major General Deddy Suryadi, addressed the situation during their visit to the Kudus Regional Legislative Council, which now serves as a shelter for flood victims. To mitigate traffic congestion, Chief Luthfi announced the redirection of traffic from the Semarang direction through Purwodadi. "Some vehicles are being guided along a single lane under the supervision of traffic police. We have also notified the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing about the current situation," he said, as reported by antaranews.com. The Demak Traffic Unit has rerouted small vehicles bound for Pati and Surabaya through the Trengguli Route towards Mijen-Welahan-Jepara-Kudus-Pati. To alleviate congestion further, the Kudus Traffic Unit coordinated with the Rembang and Pati Traffic Units to redirect three-axis vehicles towards Semarang through Blora or Grobogan. "We've collaborated with the Pati and Rembang Traffic Units to guide three-axis trucks through the Blora or Grobogan routes due to heavy congestion on the Jepara route," explained Kudus Traffic Unit Operations Coordinator Police First Inspector Noor Alifi. Meanwhile, repairs on the Babalan Bridge along the Undaan-Grobogan route have contributed to additional congestion. To assist drivers during diversions, the Kudus Traffic Unit has strategically placed signage along the affected routes and observed several vehicles parked near the Jati Kudus Main Terminal, primarily three-axis trucks.
