Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta.  The Yogyakarta Tourism Office has been undertaking thorough safety checks on all high-risk tourist attractions in the province to anticipate the upcoming year-end holidays following the incident at the Glass Bridge in Banyumas, Central Java. "Inspection of attractions such as glass platforms and other high-intensity rides is essential to ensure the safety of visitors, especially during peak periods," Kurniawan, the Acting Head of the Yogyakarta Tourism Office, said on Wednesday (8/11/2023) Preliminary assessments have identified more than ten high-risk rides in Yogyakarta, including the glass terraces at Nguluran Beach, Puncak Segoro and Gondola Timang Beach in Gunungkidul, as well as Kali Biru in Kulon Progo, antaranews.com reported. The inspection process will be undertaken in cooperation with the Manpower and Transmigration Office, and will involve service companies specialising in occupational safety and health. Those establishments found to be non-compliant will temporarily cease operations until the assessments are completed. The assessments will include an examination of the facilities, supporting equipment and the skills of the ride operators. "Once the assessments are complete, we will promote these extreme rides to give tourists an extra level of safety and to make sure that incidents like the glass bridge in Banyumas do not happen again," he asserted.
