Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  YouTube has introduced a new feature that allows users to set daily viewing limits for YouTube Shorts on mobile devices, targeting protections for teenage users. The feature expands the platform’s existing safety tools such as “Take a Break” and “Bedtime,” which are automatically enabled for users under 18.

“Today, we proudly announce a new feature that gives users control and allows them to set viewing limits for Shorts,” said Garth Graham, the Global Head of Healthcare YouTube & Google Health, during the launch in South Jakarta on Thursday (20/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

Users can activate the feature via “Settings” → “General,” then toggle “Shorts Feed Limit,” choosing between 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours. Once the limit is reached, a notification blocks further Shorts access for the day. YouTube also plans to integrate this into supervised accounts so parents can set limits that teens cannot bypass.

The platform is additionally expanding protections in its recommendation system by lowering exposure to potentially problematic content categories, now increased from three to six, including physical comparison videos, social aggression, and unrealistic financial advice.
