Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman announced on Thursday (20/11/2025) that the country will achieve rice self-sufficiency by the end of December 2025, following rapid production increases supported by government regulations and financing.
“Our food supply, specifically rice, God willing, will make Indonesia self-sufficient on 31 December 2025 at 12 p., if nothing hinders it. In 30 to 40 more days, Indonesia will be food-self-sufficient,” he said after a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, as cited by antaranews.com.
Minister Amran said the target, initially set for four years then revised to three, has been accelerated to one year due to policy support. He added that the government also plans to build large-scale community livestock facilities, including feed mills and day-old chicks (DOC) production centers to stabilize prices for 3.7 million small farmers.
The ministry also plans to set a price floor (HPP) and consider a price cap (HET) for animal feed. The first phase of feed mill construction will span 12 locations, followed by 18 more, costing an estimated Rp 20 trillion.
