Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. State-owned railway company PT KAI has rerouted 30 Semarang-Surabaya train journeys due to flooding that has made the tracks between Gubug and Karangjati Stations in Grobogan, Central Java, impassable.
Franoto Wibowo, the spokesperson for PT KAI Semarang, said on Sunday (2/2/2025) that the detour will remain in place until 5 February 2025. Trains are being redirected via Brumbungan-Gundir-Gambringan, Solo, and Yogyakarta-Purwokerto-Cirebon.
In addition, eight train services have been canceled until the route is restored.
The affected track has been submerged for 12 days. To prevent further disruptions, PT KAI is building a 5-meter-high embankment and installing a temporary bridge.
"Our top priority is ensuring smooth and safe train operations," Franoto said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
