Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian men's doubles pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Daniel Marthin settled for the runner-up position at the BWF World Tour Super 300 Swiss Open 2025, following a hard-fought battle against Thailand’s Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh on Sunday (23/3/2025).
In the final match held at St. Jakobshalle, Basel, on Sunday night, the Indonesian duo fell short in three games, 15-21, 21-18, 14-21.
Their defeat meant Indonesia left the tournament without a title, as Fikri and Daniel were the nation's sole representatives in the finals, according to antaranews.com.
The match began on a promising note for the Indonesian pair, who took an early lead. However, Kittinupong and Dechapol responded strongly, seizing control by the mid-game interval of the first game at 11-6 before closing it out at 21-15.
The second game was a tighter contest, with Fikri and Daniel fighting back despite trailing 9-11 at the interval. They eventually turned the tables at 19-18 and secured the game 21-18, forcing a decisive third game. However, the Thai pair dominated the final stretch, maintaining relentless pressure to claim victory 21-14.
