Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A massive fire broke out on a 3-hectare area in Kapuk Muara, North Jakarta, on Friday afternoon (6/6/2025), engulfing semi-permanent stilt houses made of highly flammable materials.
Gatot Sulaeman the Operations Chief at North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Agency said that the fire spread rapidly due to the combustible nature of the structures.
“The fire affected stilt houses and quickly escalated, but no casualties have been reported,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com
An estimated Rp 8 billion in property losses was reported. Firefighters managed to protect 450 homes and safeguard around 750 families living nearby.
The operation involved 150 personnel and 29 fire trucks, including 23 from North Jakarta, 4 from West Jakarta, and 2 specialized firefighting units.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
