inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Approximately 71 people in Kebon Pala, East Jakarta, were displaced due to flooding that has hit since Saturday (7/5/2025). The flooding occurred due to heavy rain that poured down on Jakarta and its surroundings.

Director of Metro Jaya Uniformed Reguler Police Corps, Senior Superintendent Yully Kurniawan said that his party evacuated people who were still trapped in their homes. The evacuation was carried out on Sunday (7/6/2025) morning. He also deployed 10 personnel for the evacuation process.

“Members at the location patrol, evacuate, and appeal to the people to shut down their electricity to prevent getting electrocuted,” says Yully in his statement on Sunday (7/6/2025).

According to him, the flood in Kebon Pala, Kampung Melayu, was due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River. The flood height at the location itself reached 1.8 meters.

"For the flood itself was caused by the overflow of the Ciliwung River (delivery from Bogor). The water height at the location reached 180 cm," he said.

People were moved to Kampung Melayu Elementary School and the Ittihadul Ikhwan Mosque Hall. However, it is undeniable that some residents are still staying at the location and some have evacuated to their relatives' homes.

"There are 71 refugees: Kampung Melayu Elementary School has 14 families of refugees, including 11 adults, 18 elderly, 5 children, 8 toddlers. While Ittihadul Ikhwan Mosque Hall housed 13 families of refugees, including 15 adults, 6 elderly, 4 children, 4 toddlers," noted Yully.
