Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government has reduced domestic airfares by 10% to ease travel costs during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays following a decision to lower airport service charges, aviation fuel costs, and fuel surcharges.

"The reduction will be approximately 10% nationwide by adjusting airport fees, aviation fuel, and surcharges," said Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (26/11/2024).

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi confirmed the reduction applies to 19 major airports, such as Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang and Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.

"This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on travelers and boost economic activity, particularly in the tourism sector," he added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
