Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government plans to construct 2,700 permanent homes for survivors of the Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki eruption in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara to provide long-term shelter and support recovery efforts for affected residents.
“We’re preparing up to 2,700 homes,” said Minister of Housing and Urban Development Maruarar Sirait after a ministerial meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday (20/11/2024).
Construction will commence once permits, infrastructure, safety, and geological conditions are finalized.
The project is expected to take 5.5 months, with locations for new housing currently being mapped.
“Housing plans are ready, and timelines will be carefully managed under coordination with Minister Pratikno,” Minister Maruarar said, referring to the Coordinating Minister of .Human Development and Culture
Local resources will be used for building materials, generating jobs for nearby communities.
"This approach ensures employment for locals while addressing housing needs," he explained, according to antaranews.com.
Relocation efforts will prioritize dialogue with affected residents to address cultural and logistical concerns.
