Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Human Rights has formally requested the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to eliminate the requirement for a police clearance certificate, locally known as SKCK, citing concerns that it may hinder citizens' fundamental rights.

"The Minister has officially signed the proposal letter to the INP Chief, urging the removal of the SKCK requirement based on our academic and practical assessments," said Nicholay Aprilindo, the Director General of Human Rights Instruments and Strengthening, on Friday (21/3/2025).

The proposal stems from ministry visits to several correctional facilities, where former convicts expressed difficulties in securing employment due to the SKCK requirement. Some were forced into repeat offenses, leading to re-incarceration.

“Many former inmates feel that the SKCK burdens them with a lifelong stigma, preventing them from leading normal lives,” Nicholay explained.
