Indonesia Repatriates 21 Human Trafficking Victims from Myanmar

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has facilitated the repatriation of 21 Indonesian citizens  suspected of being victims of human trafficking from Myawaddy, Myanmar.

“As many as 21 Indonesian citizens from Myawaddy will return home tonight,” said Judha Nugraha, the Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry, in a statement on Friday (29/11/2024).

They are part of a larger group of 91 victims, following the return of 44 others on 22 November 2024. The group arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, later on Friday.

The Ministry has been communicating with Myanmar authorities and engaging with local stakeholders to secure the safe return of these individuals.

“We continue to update the status of the remaining 91 citizens and are committed to bringing them back,” Judha said, as quoted by antaranews.com..

The Ministry has also conducted informal communications with key actors in the region to expedite the repatriation process.
