inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General  Sandi Nugroho, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the National Land Agency (BPN) in mitigating agrarian conflicts to maintain security and stability and strengthen investment certainty in South Sumatra.

This commitment emerged during a strategic meeting between the South Sumatra Regional Police and the South Sumatra Provincial BPN Regional Office at the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters on Tuesday (2/24/2026).

The meeting discussed accelerating certification and streamlining the administration of state assets as a preventative measure against potential land disputes that could disrupt public order and security.

Sandi emphasized that agrarian issues cannot be viewed solely as administrative matters, but rather as strategic issues directly intersecting with social stability, security, and the sustainability of regional development.

"Land conflicts that are not handled systematically can escalate into social conflicts that disrupt public order and security. Therefore, mitigation must be carried out properly, data-based, and continuously," emphasized Sandi.

According to him, South Sumatra is a strategic investment area, ranging from plantations and energy to infrastructure. Therefore, legal certainty regarding land is a crucial prerequisite for development to proceed unimpeded by land disputes.

He also emphasized that clear land legality not only provides legal protection for state assets but also creates a sense of security for the public and businesses. He believes that without orderly land administration, the potential for conflict will increase and directly impact the investment climate.

Meanwhile, the Head of the South Sumatra National Land Agency (BPN) Regional Office, Rahmat, expressed the BPN's commitment to supporting this collaborative effort through comprehensive document verification and field validation to prevent overlapping ownership, which is often the root of agrarian conflict.

As a follow-up, the South Sumatra Regional Police and the South Sumatra BPN Regional Office will conduct technical consolidation with the Police Chiefs and Regency/City Land Offices throughout South Sumatra to expedite the resolution of administrative obstacles in the field.

This strengthened collaboration between the police and the BPN is a strategic step in building more orderly land governance, strengthening legal certainty, and ensuring that South Sumatra remains conducive, safe, and investment-friendly.
