inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In fighting against terrorist and radicalism, the Indonesian National Police (INP) continues to implement the Preventive Strike against the terrorist before they commit their action.
The statement was conveyed by INP Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in the 2024 Year-End Release (RAT) at the Main Meeting Room of INP Headquarters on Tuesday (12/31/2024).
According to him and the data of 2023, the step resulted in zero attack of terrorism throughout 2023 to 2024 with a total of 196 terrorists apprehended.
General Sigit explained that terrorism and radicalism are global problems that occur in almost all countries. Based on the 2024 Global Terrorism Index (GTI) Survey, Indonesia is still classified as a country with a medium impact of terrorism (Medium impacted) with a ranking of 31 out of 163 countries.
The Chief of Police emphasized that his party continues to strive to combat terrorism using a soft approach and a hard approach. In addition, the Police also continues to increase deradicalization efforts so that the former-terrorists and their families can be free from deviant ideologies.
"Throughout 2024, there were 8,118 former-terrorists and their families who were deradicalized, including the 1.315 former Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) members who have been disbanded on December 21st, 2024," said the Chief of Police.
The Four-Star General further explained that in order to improve law enforcement against terrorism, police also continued to strengthen relations with domestic and foreign agencies.
"Up to now, we have collaborated with 11 Ministries/Institutions and foreign stakeholders, along with six domestic Ministries/Institutions," General Sigit said.
