Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) remain vigilant against potential public security disturbances following the 2024 Regional Elections, INP Chief Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said during a post-election security coordination meeting held at the Indonesia Military (TNI) Headquarters on Wednesday (27/11/2024).
"Based on our joint monitoring with the TNI Commander and relevant ministers, the elections have been relatively safe so far. However, we will maintain caution during the vote-counting phase," he said, as reported by antaranews.com, referring to Commander Agus Subiyanto.
Security efforts are concentrated on regions identified as high-risk by the INP Intelligence and Security Agency and the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).
Areas with close electoral races involving two candidates are receiving additional attention, he added.
Chief Sigit also called for unity among the public to ensure a peaceful election process.
"Unity and cohesion remain our priority. We pray for the election results to be accepted by all parties," he urged.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian. The vote-counting process, which began Wednesday, will continue until 16 December 2024.
