inp.polri.go.id - Balikpapan. The Police Professional and Security Division of North Sumatra Regional Police reports a sharp decline of member misconduct throughout 2024.

Head of the division, Senior Superintendent Bambang Tertianto says that the misconduct of police members is declining to 215 in 2024, far below the 2023 which reached 304 cases.

The decline is also seen at the Indonesian National Police (INP) Violation of Professional Code of Ethics, which is almost half of it, from 542 cases in 2023 to 271 cases in 2024. Moreover, the number of dishonorable discharges (PTDH) shows a better trend, with 23 cases in 2024 compared to 57 cases in the previous year.

Bambang also explains that the decline is thanks to the effort of stronger and consistent internal training and monitoring.

“The significant decrease on Violation of the Professional Code of Ethics shows concrete evidence that the training, monitoring, and handling program of North Sumatra Regional Police is going effectively. We are continuing our work and making sure our members work with high professionalism and integrity,” explains Bambang on Monday (1/6/2024).

Bambang also notes about viral incidents involving police members and highlights the need for bigger attention on member attitudes in the field.

“The increase of viral cases on police attitude shows that our movements are seen and monitored continuously by the public. We will continue to strengthen our monitoring and provide training so that our members would be more careful in their actions,” conclude Bambang.(ad/pt/pr/nm)
