inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. The Marine and Air Directorate of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police provided humanitarian assistance to the coastal community of Tablolong Beach, West Kupang District, Kupang Regency, who were affected by tidal flooding, Wednesday (2/5/2025).

With 24 personnel, the Search and Rescue (SAR) Team of NTT Regional Police was deployed to help residents in Hamlets 1, 2, and 3 — which are the areas worst affected by tidal flooding due to high tides and high waves hitting the coast.

The Director of the NTT Regional Police Marine and Police Unit, Senior Superintendent Irwan Deffi Nasution, stated that his team made various efforts to help residents after the flood, such as cleaning people’s houses buried by sea sand due to tidal flooding, cleaning marine debris, recording the number of affected residents and the level of damage at the location and visiting refugees who had to temporarily leave their homes until the weather conditions improved.

Irwan Deffi Nasution also reported that, until now, there have been no reports of fatalities due to the disaster. However, residents are facing difficulties due to the lack of food, drink supplies, and emergency tents for evacuation.

To help affected residents, the Ministry of Social Affairs has set up a public kitchen in the yard of the Tablolong Village Office, with 45 Tagana personnel tasked with providing food for victims.

The public is expected to remain vigilant against the potential for tidal flooding and high waves that could still occur in the near future.
