inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Marthinus Hukom stated that Prabowo Subianto is the first president to place drugs as a central issue in his priority program, namely Asta Cita.

"As the Head of BNN, I am very grateful that for the first time a state leader has placed the issue of drugs as a central issue in a priority program," said the Head of BNN, on Wednesday (1/22/2025).

According to him, this step is massive for BNN as there are prayers and hopes of the Indonesian people as well as the attention and presence of the state in eradicating narcotics in this mission.

As of the 7th point of Asta Cita, President Prabowo is committed to strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms, as well as strengthening the prevention and eradication of corruption and narcotics. The reason is, corruption and narcotics need to be prevented and resolved with strong and consistent policies.

The emphasized remark on eradicating drugs in Indonesia has put BNN with great tasks as the state is faced with geographical challenges which expose the state to many vulnerabilities, other than the socio-economic challenges.

Data shows that in 2023 there were around 3.3 million drug abusers in the 15–64 age group, with a prevalence rate of 1.73 percent.
