Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Secretariat of the Vice President clarified that a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado car involved in a recent viral traffic accident, which bore a Secretariat of the Vice President sticker, was not an official state vehicle.
“The car does not belong to the Secretariat of the Vice President, and neither the owner nor the driver is affiliated with our institution,” the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of The VP Secretariat said in a statement on Sunday (12/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The VP Secretariat Press Bureau explained that the sticker on the vehicle was not an official emblem issued by the institution and had no connection to the Vice President’s Secretariat.
Expressing concern over the incident, it called for legal proceedings to address the matter.
“We hope the legal process runs according to regulations, ensuring a fair resolution,” the statement added.
The clarification comes amid public speculation following the circulation of videos of the crash, which involved a black Toyota Prado and a Yamaha Mio motorcycle on Thursday in Sukabumi, West Java. The collision resulted in two fatalities and left one injured.
The Sukabumi City Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit is investigating the cause, with witnesses being questioned and the vehicle's driver detained for further examination.
