inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Riau Island Regional Police held a sweet corn harvest on 1.5 hectares of land owned by the Maju Bareng Farmers Group, in Tembesi Sidomulyo, Batam City. This activity is part of the national food security program and is a symbol of synergy between the police, the community, and the government in supporting food self-sufficiency towards Indonesia Emas 2045.
The Riau Island Regional Police Chief Inspector General Asep Safrudin, explained the importance of food security as a strategic issue for the nation that has a direct impact on national stability and community welfare.
"This corn harvest activity reflects the spirit of cross-sector synergy. The Riau Islands Regional Police are committed to continuing to support and become the driving force of development, especially in the agricultural sector. We make this activity a collaborative model for other areas in the Riau Islands," said Asep on Wednesday (4/9/2025).
According to Asep, since January 2025, his party has started a simultaneous corn planting program in several locations, including Nongsa and Tembesi with a total area of 18.8 hectares. In the future, the expansion is targeted to reach 10,933 hectares.
