Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Navy is set to launch 96 kitchens across Indonesia to provide free nutritious meals for students in elementary, junior high, and high schools.
“We hope to establish these kitchens within a few months,” said Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali on Tuesday while visiting SMA 1 Hang Tuah High School in Cipulir, Jakarta, to observe meal distribution.
The Navy’s initiative aims to support the government’s program to improve children’s nutrition. It will collaborate with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to ensure kitchens meet standards and food preparation adheres to government guidelines.
Each meal will cost between Rp10,000 and Rp15,000, with Rp5,000 allocated for operations and Rp10,000 for food.
Currently, 10 kitchens are operational, including one at the Naval Staff and Command School (Seskoal) in Cipulir, which produces up to 3,000 lunch portions daily. Staffed by 47 cooks, it serves eight nearby schools.
