Inp.polri.go.id - Sorong.  The  Sorong Sub-regional Police in Southwest Papua have been hunting down a suspect involved in a machete attack that injured three victims on Sunday in the Malanu area of Sorong City.

“We are investigating and gathering information from residents to identify the suspect and uncover the motive,” said Sorong Police Operations Chief, Senior Inspector Indra Gunawan, on Monday (6/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com..

The incident began when the suspect walked through Malanu, smashing empty bottles. He then threw one at victim D, a 40-year-old woman, striking her thigh. Residents tried to arrest the suspect, but he fled.

Shortly after, the suspect returned armed with a machete and attacked two others at a nearby PlayStation gaming area. Victim SB (13)  suffered head injuries, and SS (18) sustained a leg wound. All three victims are receiving medical care at a local hospital.

“We are making every effort to apprehend the suspect and ensure he faces justice,” Chief Indra said.
