Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. TikTok has denied viral rumors claiming that the Indonesian e-commerce giant Tokopedia would be shuttered and replaced by a standalone TikTok Shop application.
The clarification was issued on Friday (6/2/2026) afater widespread speculation on social media platform X, where claims emerged that the Tokopedia app would be "killed off" in favor of a separate TikTok-branded platform.
TikTok reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the Indonesian market, emphasizing that Tokopedia will remain fully operational with ongoing investments to enhance user experience.
"We have heard rumors regarding the future of Tokopedia. Those rumors are not true. We continue to invest in Tokopedia and Indonesia," a TikTok spokesperson said in a written release received by antaranews.com.
The National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) has responded to the controversy by pledging to monitor the digital platform's transformation. BPKN Chairman Mufti Mubarok confirmed that the agency is coordinating with relevant ministries to ensure that any shifts in the e-commerce landscape do not disadvantage consumers or compromise digital rights.
