Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police arrested two men in connection with the attempted smuggling of 143 kilograms of marijuana linked to a North Sumatra drug network. 

The suspects, identified as ESL (37) and RM (47), were arrested in Tanah Tinggi, Tangerang, on Friday evening..

"Our team acted after receiving a public tip about suspicious activity near Daan Mogot KM 24," said Superintendent Ade Chandra, the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate’sHead of Subdirectorate 3, as quoted by antaranews.com on Saturday (3/5/2025).

At around 8.20 pm., officers found suspect ESL guarding five suitcases and two boxes allegedly containing marijuana. An hour later, suspect RM arrived to collect the packages and was immediately arrested.

According to police, suspect RM claimed he was instructed by a person identified as  “U” to distribute the drugs across Jakarta and West Java. Authorities seized 143 packages of marijuana totaling approximately 143 kilograms. 

Both suspects remain in custody for further investigation.
