Inp.polri.go.id - Banjar City. The Banjar City Sub-Regional Police have named a United States citizen from California, United States, a suspect in the murder of his father in-law .
"We have arrested the suspect, questioned him, and we officially named him as a suspect today," said Police Senior Inspector Ali Jupri, Chief of the Banjar Sub-Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit, said on Monday (25/9/23)
The suspect, identified as 34 year-old man with initials AW, is married to an Indonesian citizen residing in Banjar City. He has been accused of a fatal assault that claimed the life of his father-in-law, a 58-year-old man identified with initial 'A'.
"He is charged under Article 338 of the Criminal Code, which carries a 15-year prison sentence. We are investigating the motive behind this tragic incident," Chief Ali confirmed.
The murder took place in Randegan 1 Village, Purwaharja Subdistrict in Banjar City, on Sunday (24/9/23).
Prior to the murder, the suspect had earlier filed a report of property damage at his in-laws' residence, situated near his own home, on September 15, 2023, Chief Ali said. The legal process was on-going.
Based on the preliminary findings, the murder was incited by longstanding tensions over domestic matters.
