169 Indonesian Citizens Saved from Online Scam Practice in Myanmar

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Citizen Protection Team (PWNI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok and the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon again successfully repatriated 169 Indonesian citizens from Myawaddy, Myanmar, on Tuesday (3/18/2025) evening.

Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha said that the 169 Indonesian citizens consisted of 149 men and 20 women.

"They are all in good health. One woman is pregnant. The majority of the origins are from North Sumatra, West Java, Jakarta, the Riau Islands and North Sulawesi," said Director Judha, Wednesday (3/19/2025).

The Indonesian citizens, said Director Judha, were taken from Mae Sot to Don Muang Airport, Bangkok and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Wednesday (3/19/2025) morning.

Thus, over two days a total of 569 Indonesian citizens who were victims of online scams were successfully repatriated from Myawaddy.

After arriving in Jakarta, the Indonesian citizens will be accommodated at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory for the interview, rehabilitation and counseling process before returning to their respective hometowns.
