inp.polri.go.id - Riau Islands. The Riau Islands Regional Police arrested 18 people in an operation at drug trafficking area in Kampung Madani, Simpang Dam Muka Kuning, Sei Beduk District.

The Head of Sub-Directorate 2 of the Riau Islands Regional Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate, Police Assistant Superintendent Fauzan Afifi, stated that the 18 people were arrested for alleged involvement in drugs trafficking and abuse.

"Through this operation, we are working to cleanse the drug trafficking area that has been misused as a place for drug transactions and abuse," said Fauzan on Monday (10/26/2026).

Based on an inspection by the Riau Islands Regional Police's Medical and Health Division, 17 people tested positive for substances suspected of being narcotics or psychoactive substances. Meanwhile, one other person tested negative.

"The urine test results are part of the handling and further investigation process," he said.

However, a positive urine test result does not necessarily prove someone is involved in drug trafficking. Police have not yet detailed the legal status of each person arrested in the operation.

In addition to apprehending the 18 people, officers confiscated several items suspected of being related to activities at the location. These items included one package of methamphetamine, two sharp weapons, a methamphetamine smoking device (bong), six cell phones, one pair of scissors, several pipettes, and one motorcycle.

The Head of Public Relations for the Riau Islands Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nona Pricillia Ohei, stated that the operation was part of the drug-prevention program under Quick Wins Number 2, the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief's Priority Program.

The program is also aimed at supporting the prevention and eradication of drug abuse and illicit trafficking (P4GN).

According to the police, regional recovery does not rely solely on law enforcement, but also requires prevention efforts and community involvement.

Collaboration between the police, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), and locals is expected to suppress drug trafficking while creating a safe, healthy, and productive environment.
