The Aceh Regional Police's Narcotics Directorate, in conjunction with the Aceh Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP), and the Lhokseumawe Sub-regional Police, successfully uncovered a marijuana plantation in Alue Garut Hamlet, Teupin Ruseb Village, Sawang District, North Aceh Regency.
The operation, which took place on October 27–28, 2026, targeted two locations with a total area estimated at 18 hectares. The discovery was part of law enforcement's efforts to eradicate illegal marijuana cultivation and disrupt the chain of illicit drug trafficking at its source.
Aceh Regional Police Narcotics Directorate, Senior Superintendent Gazali Ahmad, through the Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Joko Krisdiyanto, stated that the operation demonstrated the importance of cross-agency coordination in addressing narcotics issues, particularly in the area where the marijuana plantation was discovered.
The police are also committed to continuing to combat narcotics and protecting the public, especially the younger generation, from the threat of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Furthermore, Aceh Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Ruddi Setiawan paid special attention to drug eradication efforts in Aceh.
"Thank God, during the operation, an 18-hectare marijuana plantation was uncovered. The plants were then uprooted and secured for destruction. The marijuana plants had reached two meters in height, with a spacing of approximately 0.5 meters," said Joko in his statement on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
He explained that the location of the marijuana plantation required a five-kilometer walk. During the operation, officers also arrested four suspects suspected of involvement in the illegal marijuana cultivation, identified as MW, HM, SF, and WD.
"Four people were arrested during the operation. They, along with the marijuana evidence, have been taken to the Lhokseumawe Police Department for further legal proceedings," said Joko.
Joko appealed to the public not to be involved in the cultivation, storage, or illicit trafficking of narcotics, including marijuana. He invited the people to play an active role in helping the authorities by reporting suspicious activities related to drugs via the 110 call center or directly to the nearest police station.
